BC Government Attacked for Gambling Changes

VICTORIA, British Columbia – As reported by the Canadian Press: " Premier Gordon Campbell says he can understand why some people feel his government has broken a promise and expanded gambling in B.C.

"…But he said the total number of casinos and slot machines has not risen from earlier promises made by the Liberals.

"…NDP Leader Carole James charged the lottery corporation's latest request for proposals is further proof the Liberal government is expanding gambling by stealth.

"While in Opposition, the Liberals staunchly opposed gambling.

"…She said online gaming in pubs is a double threat due to gambling and alcohol addiction…"
