Barstow Goes Forward with Casino Plans

BARSTOW, California – As reported by the Barstow Daily Press: "City Council's direct involvement in the negotiations of two off-reservation casino projects involving three Indian tribes scattered across California is nearing an end.

"At the end of November, City Council approved 4-1 (with Paul Luellig dissenting), to accept due diligence reports regarding two of the tribes and one of the development groups involved in casino efforts. Due diligence investigations are intended to determine that the tribes and developers meet the financial and non-financial requisites to develop and run a casino.

"One developer, however, has been caught up in technicalities of getting documentation to the firm the city has contracted to handle due diligence reports, prompting City Council to set a Dec. 31 deadline to complete the process…"
