Barstow Gambling Supporters Submit Petition

BARSTOW, California – As reported by the California Desert Dispatch: "The proponents of an Indian gaming ballot initiative have gathered more than 2,100 signatures, and are prepared to submit them to the city.

"The initiative only needs a little more than 1,200 signatures to qualify for the November ballot, so the initiative is expected to easily qualify once the signatures are submitted.

"Former City Council member Manuel 'Gil' Gurule, the primary proponent of the Barstow Economic Stimulus Initiative, brought the signatures to Monday's Council meeting intending to submit them.

"…The initiative allows for the development of Indian casinos in Barstow within a designated casino zone…"
