Barden to continue with Indiana development21 December 2006INDIANA – As reported by the Northwest Indiana Times: "Don Barden's win Wednesday of Pittsburgh's only slots casino license won't alter plans to improve Buffington Harbor, the Detroit businessman said. "'This is just an additional means for our company to grow and to prosper,' Barden said. 'We'll continue our efforts in Gary.' "…He had announced plans early this year for condominiums, a hotel, a medical clinic and other improvements at the Buffington Harbor site of his Majestic Star I and II casinos in Gary. He added plans in November for a multipurpose sports arena. "The possibility of a new floating platform to house Barden's gambling enterprise at Buffington Harbor is being evaluated, Barden said Wednesday. "..Speculation locally that Barden could choose to consolidate the two Majestic Star casinos under a single Indiana gaming license, and rid himself of the other, are premature, Barden said…" |
