Barclays Chief New UK Lotto Chairman

12 September 2004

UK -- As reported by the BBC: "The outgoing chairman of Barclays Bank, Sir Peter Middleton, is to become the chairman of National Lottery operator Camelot, it has been announced.

"Michael Grade, the previous chairman, left Camelot when he became BBC chairman in May.

"Sir Peter stepped down as chairman of Barclays on 31 August, but is still completing a number of engagements for the bank until the end of this year.

"...He said his main task would be to work with the government 'to ensure a sensible and fair bidding process for the third lottery licence - and help lead any future Camelot bid for it'..."
