Bally's casino fined in underage gambling case13 November 2008ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey -- As reported by The Press of Atlantic City: "Bally's Atlantic City was slapped with a record $157,500 fine today for allowing an underage gambler to play at the slot machines and gaming tables numerous times. "The penalty, imposed by the New Jersey Casino Control Commission, eclipsed the previous record fine of $105,000 against Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa last February for an underage gambling case. "The Bally's gambler, identified as 20-year-old Candeda Simpson, gambled so extensively that she was considered a 'rated player.' Gamblers are routinely rated on their level of play and are rewarded with comps, such as free food and hotel rooms. "Bally's spokeswoman Alyce Parker declined to comment. Gaming regulators said the Bally's case was particularly egregious because Simpson was able to gamble on multiple occasions in January and February of 2006 but wasn't caught..." copyrighted material written for and appeared exclusively in The Press of Atlantic City |
