Bally Technologies Receives GSA Certification

20 April 2006

LAS VEGAS – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Bally Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: BYI) announced today it has been awarded the first Certificate of Compliance from the Gaming Standards Association (GSA) for its ALPHA OS platform for meeting the testing requirements of the SAS v6.01 slot machine software protocol.

Tested by Gaming Laboratories International (GLI), ALPHA OS was found to be in full compliance for accounting and security, ticketing, real-time events, progressives, system bonusing, cashless and legacy support. SAS v6.01 is the first of several protocols and interfaces adopted by the GSA as industry standards and to be tested by GLI and other regulatory agencies following separate submissions from participating manufacturers.

ALPHA OS (patents pending) is the first operating system in the gaming industry to support both video and mechanical reel-spinning platforms. ALPHA OS drives the game content on Bally's M9000, S9000 and CineVision(TM) cabinets.

"The fact that ALPHA OS was the first operating system to be certified as SAS v6.01-compliant by the GSA through an independent testing lab is yet another indication of Bally's technology leadership position in the gaming industry," said Robert Luciano, Bally Chief Technology Officer. "We began the development of ALPHA OS in 1998 and it has evolved into a versatile technology that allows our game developers to create popular and powerful game content while giving casino operators a stable platform perfectly positioned for where the industry is going."

ALPHA OS distinguishes itself from other industry platforms as an operating system designed for complete separation between the underlying OS and the game applications, providing enhanced efficiency in game development and speed to market. Moreover, ALPHA OS was designed to support server-based gaming initiatives, including download of game results, configuration and game content.

The Gaming Standards Association (GSA) is an international trade association that creates benefits for gaming manufacturers, suppliers, operators and regulators. GSA facilitates the identification, definition, development, promotion, and implementation of open standards to enable innovation, education, and communication for the benefit of the entire industry.
