Bailey Puts His Faith All-in at the Poker Table

AUGUSTA, Georgia -- As reported by the Augusta Chronicle: "Glen Bailey still wrestles with the perceived discrepancy of two great forces in his life.

"'I know it's sort of an oxymoron,' Bailey said, 'but I am a Christian who plays poker.'

"Bailey, who lives in Martinez, doesn't just play poker. He and his younger brother, Donald, play tournament poker very well. Well enough to each win free seats in the $10,000 buy-in main event at the World Series of Poker, which begins July 7 in Las Vegas.

"Christianity and poker aren't mutually exclusive. Doyle Brunson, whose book Super System is considered the No-Limit Hold'em bible, is a devout Christian. Another one of the game's celebrities, who Bailey recently beat head-to-head in an online tournament, is called Chris "Jesus" Ferguson.

"...Bailey jumped on the poker wave, along with many others, after watching Chris Moneymaker win the 2003 World Series of Poker on ESPN..."
