Aztar Not Clear How Accident Will Affect Results

ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey – As reported by Reuters: "Tropicana casino owner Aztar Corp.(NYSE:AZR) on Friday said it was unclear how the collapse of a parking garage under construction in Atlantic City on Thursday would affect its $245-million expansion of the Tropicana or its financial results.

"Chief Financial Officer and President Robert Haddock said that business insurance would cover at least part of the costs to the company after five floors of the garage collapsed, killing four workers and injuring many more.

"…Haddock and Rubeli expressed their condolences to families of the injured and killed. Haddock said it was not clear how the accident would affect timing of the expansion, which had been scheduled to open in March.

"…Those areas could reopen next week, the executives said, adding that the casino and other hotel towers remained open in the mean time…"
