Aztar Appoints New Chief Financial Officer

PHOENIX, Arizona – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Aztar Corporation (NYSE: AZR) today announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Neil A. Ciarfalia to the position of Chief Financial Officer effective March 1. He will continue in his responsibilities as Vice President and Treasurer. Mr. Ciarfalia succeeds Robert M. Haddock as Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Haddock becomes Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer on March 1, as previously announced.

Mr. Ciarfalia, who is 57 years of age, joined Aztar Corporation in 1995. He has an extensive background in financial services, including service as President of Saab Aircraft's domestic and international finance subsidiaries and various assignments with GATX Financial Services, Itel Corporation and Crocker Bank. He holds Bachelor of Arts and Master of Business Administration degrees from Stanford University. His appointment is subject to approval by the appropriate state gaming authorities if required.

Aztar is a publicly traded company that operates Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Tropicana Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, Ramada Express Hotel and Casino in Laughlin, Nevada, Casino Aztar in Caruthersville, Missouri, and Casino Aztar in Evansville, Indiana.
