Award-winning comedian Wanda Sykes returns to Treasure Island Theatre

21 May 2018

(PRESS RELEASE) -- One of Entertainment Weekly's “25 Funniest People in America,” Wanda Sykes brings her wry, intelligent stand-up comedy to the Treasure Island Theatre, 29 June at 9 p.m.

One of the busiest comedians, Sykes has appeared in film, television and on stage for more than 25 years. Most recently, she was nominated for a 2017 Primetime Emmy Award for her recurring role on ABC’s hit comedy “Black-ish.” Last summer, she was seen with Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn in the mother-daughter comedy “Snatched.”

Sykes spent five years as a performer and writer for HBO’s critically acclaimed “Chris Rock Show” where she won an Emmy Award in 1999. Other television appearances include “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “Crank Yankers,” “The New Adventures of Old Christine” and as the star of Fox’s “Wanda at Large,” which Sykes also wrote and produced.

In 2004, Sykes released her first book “Yeah, I Said It,” a hilarious collection of essays touching on life, family and current events.

With three comedy specials under her belt, Sykes’ most recent special, “What Happened…Ms. Sykes?” premiered in 2016 on Epix. Sykes has two successful comedy specials for HBO: “Wanda Sykes; Sick and Tired,” in 2006 and “I’ma Be Me,” in 2009, the second nominated for two Emmys. Her comedy special “Wanda Sykes Presents Herlarious,” featuring appearances by actors Kristin Chenoweth, Wayne Brady and Cheryl Hines, aired on The Oprah Winfrey Network in 2013 and 2014.

Sykes’ feature film credits include “Evan Almighty” with Steve Carrell, “Monster-In-Law” and “My Super Ex-Girlfriend.” She has lent her voice to several animated features including “Over the Hedge, “The Barnyard,” “Rio” and the “Ice Age” movies.

Tickets are available starting at $59.95, plus tax and handling fees, and can be purchased online, or by calling the box office at 866-712-9308 or 702-894-7722. Guests must be 18 years or older to attend.
