Authorities in W.V. seize gambling machines26 January 2009CLARKSBURG, West Virginia -- As reported by The Charleston Gazette: "IRS criminal investigators and about 25 sheriff's deputies raided a Clarksburg conference center early Saturday, seizing 144 video gambling machines. "The machines looked like traditional video lottery machines found at racetracks and small parlors throughout the state. "But a flier for Village Square calls these machines 'Video Raffle Ticket Dispensers.' "According to Village Square's lawyers, these are not video lottery machines and therefore don't need to be approved or regulated by the state Lottery Commission. "Harrison County Prosecutor Joseph F. Shaffer disagrees and is investigating Village Square and its owners..." |
