Australian Watchdog Sued Over Death

AUSTRALIA – As reported by the Australian Associated Press: "NSW's casino watchdog has lost its bid to avert legal action brought by the family of a man who died at Sydney's Star City Casino after he was restrained by bouncers.

"Pangiotis Dalamangas died on January 31, 1998, during an incident with bouncers at the casino.

"The NSW Casino Control Authority today lost its bid to be removed from legal action brought by Mr Dalamangas' family over the death.

"…But Justice Patricia Bergin said the security activities of the casino did fall under the authority's control and dismissed its application to be removed as a defendant…"
