Australian Open moves on gambling fears

AUSTRALIA -- As reported by the Australian Associated Press: "Tennis Australia has engaged a security consultant and formed a working party to prevent match-fixing at the Australian Open.

"The moves for January's grand slam were announced yesterday as another player claimed he was approached to throw a match.

"'I was in my hotel room and somebody called to ask me not to try too hard the next day,' Wimbledon doubles champion Michael Llodra told French radio.

""That was four years ago. I said 'No' and hung up.

"...The threat of possible match-fixing is also being taken seriously at this week's Paris Masters.

"Matches were being recorded and analysed by former players and ATP supervisors..."
