Australian Gaming Operators Defend Sponsorship

AUSTRALIA – As reported by the Warrnambool Standard: "Warrnambool gaming machine venue operators yesterday defended their level of community sponsorship.

"A report in yesterday's edition of The Standard showed the city's six venues reported their total sponsorship contribution from gaming revenue was more than $65,000 in 2003-04.

"The figures were contained in their individual community benefit statements lodged with the Victorian Commission for Gambling Regulation in 2003\/04.

"Warrnambool's Mac's Hotel owner Peter Walsh said his business handed out more than $70,000 yearly in sponsorship, a far cry from the $6301 listed in the report…"
