Australia: Tourism increase hope depends on more gaming machines

QUEENSLAND, Australia -- Renovations at casinos could boost Queensland's flagging tourism industry, The Courier-Mail reports.

Tabcorp's investment in casino renovations and upgrades is dependent on the government allowing increased numbers of poker machines, the report explained.

Tabcorp suggested the government sell it "unused casino licences" which would relieve need to change numbers allowed under the current government cap, The Courier-Mail explained.
