Australia: Gambling addict tells court of secret listening device

AUSTRALIA -- As reported by the Herald Sun: "Ten hours of secret tape recordings have emerged at the centre of Harry Kakavas's $30 million Supreme Court fight with Crown casino.

"Lawyers for Mr Kakavas revealed he wore a concealed listening device during a series of conversations with Crown chiefs in late 2006.

"But transcripts of the tapes were not read to the court after objections from Crown's counsel Neil Young, QC.

"...Mr Kakavas, 42, is suing Crown for the $20.5 million he lost in a 14-month baccarat binge between June 2005 and August 2006, plus damages.

"...he had previously signed a self-exclusion order, banning him from the casino for life..."
