Australia: Casino lucky on liquor laws

AUSTRALIA -- As reported by Brisbane Times: "Star City will be exempt from tough new liquor laws such as serving alcohol in plastic cups despite the casino being the fourth-most violent club in the state, with 29 assaults reported in 12 months.

"The Government has confirmed it will not be enforcing strict conditions on Star City, using the excuse that the casino has a police unit attached to it and extensive security measures in place.

"...But a spokesman for the Gaming and Racing Minister, Kevin Greene, said Star City had been given an exemption.

"...Peter Grimshaw, a spokesman for Star City, said it had various security measures in place, including widespread CCTV camera coverage, and was able to act quickly in the event of violence..."
