Atlantic City Wins With Changes12 July 2005ATLANTIC CITY – As reported by the Philadelphia Inquirer: "Bolstered by the popularity of its newest attraction geared toward non-gamblers, the Tropicana Casino Resort led the city's casinos in revenue growth last month. "With the mix changing and competition intensifying for non-gambling dollars, Atlantic City's effort to add more dining, shopping and entertainment options is paying off by boosting income. "The city's 12 casinos reported $404.4 million in revenue for June, a 2.3 percent increase over the same period a year ago. Gamblers lost $307 million at the slot machines and $97 million at table games. "The $285 million Quarter, a retail, entertainment and dining megacomplex inside Tropicana that opened in November, helped the casino draw more customers and record the best performance last month "…By contrast, the three Trump casinos - Trump Plaza, Trump Marina and Trump Taj Mahal - and Sands Casino Hotel, which have been the slowest to change and add new attractions, all showed decreases in business…" |
