Atlantic City slumps again11 September 2007ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey -- As reported by the Press of Atlantic City: "Gaming revenue fell 5.9 percent in August, reflecting a poor summer and the fifth straight month of declines as Atlantic City continues to struggle against competition in neighboring states and with the impact of the partial casino smoking ban. "Eight of the 11 casinos suffered a drop in revenue, with only Caesars, Harrah's and Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort posting gains for the month, according to figures released Monday by the New Jersey Casino Control Commission. "As has been the case for most of the year, analysts blamed the slot parlors in Pennsylvania and New York and the Atlantic City casino smoking restrictions for cutting into business..." copyrighted material written for and appeared exclusively in The Press of Atlantic City |
