Atlantic City Continues Record Growth12 April 2005NEW JERSEY – As reported by the Philadelphia Inquirer: "Atlantic City's gambling industry continues to record year over year growth, with the 12 casinos generating a total of $396 million in gaming revenue in March, up 1.9 percent from 2004. "Slot machines are the dominant source of revenue for New Jersey's casinos and accounted for $292 million, or 74 percent of total gaming revenue. Table games produced $104 million, or 26 percent. "But the latest statistics from the New Jersey Casino Control Commission indicate that poker, blackjack and other table games are growing faster than slots. Revenue rose 2.1 percent from table games in March compared with 1.8 percent for slots. "The Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa was the city's top revenue earner at $54.5 million -- up 13.8 percent from the same month a year ago. Bally's Atlantic City came in second at $52.2 million and Trump Taj Mahal was third with $40.1 million…" |
