Atlantic City Casinos' Win Top $500 Million11 August 2005ATLANTIC CITY -- As reported by the South Jersey Courier-Post: "The monthly casino win in July topped the $500 million mark for the first time in the city's gambling history. "The $504.8 million won - a 6.5 percent increase over last July - eclipsed the previous record of $474.9 million set in August 2003, according to figures released Wednesday by the Casino Control Commission. "…The big winners were Borgata and Tropicana, again. "Buoyed by the entertainment, retail and dining attraction called The Quarter, Tropicana revenues climbed 31 percent compared to last July. Borgata rose 19.7 percent. "…Only Resorts and Trump Plaza were on the negative side of the ledger, with 2.3 and 3.0 declines respectively year to year. "…For the first seven months of the year, casinos won $2.9 billion, an increase of 2.8 percent over the same period in 2004. The industry is on a record pace for 2005. For the year, Tropicana and Borgata are up by double digits over 2004…" |
