Atlantic City Casinos Report Strong New Year's Weekend

ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey – As reported by the Press of Atlantic City: "The lure of big parties, springlike weather and high-rollers buoyed by a rising stock market conspired to bring about a strong four-day New Year's holiday weekend for at least four of the city's casinos.

"Although New Year's Eve is when casinos treat their best players to a lavish night on the house, Borgata and the three Park Place Entertainment casinos reported strong business from walk-ins who paid cash for food, drinks and entertainment.

"…Borgata commanded rates of $500 for hotel rooms that opened due to cancellations, and rooms went for as high as $500 at the Hilton. All four hotels were sold out.

"Park Place treated high rollers to private theme parties with live entertainment: A Twenties party at Bally's, Woodstock at Caesars and Caribbean at Hilton, the latter including a $50,000 diamond necklace giveaway…"
