Atlantic City Casinos Break April Record11 May 2004ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey – As reported by the Press of Atlantic City: "The city's 12 casinos won $394 million from gamblers last month, making it the industry's best April on record. "According to a report released Monday by the state's Casino Control Commission the industry collected $53.4 million more than in April 2003, a 15.7 percent increase. "Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa was responsible for the bulk of that gain, with $52.7 million in revenue. "The 11 other casinos posted a combined revenue increase of .05 percent compared to last April, before the opening of the $1.1 billion Borgata. "…Subtracting Borgata's $34.3 million in slot wins, the casinos still saw a combined 2.1 percent increase. However, without the Borgata boost, table winnings fell 5.6 percent in a month-to-month comparison. "…Showboat took in the least at the tables - $3.2 million - while Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino's $6.5 million in table win marked the biggest percentage drop, a 16.7 percent slide…" |
