Atlantic City casino construction gets early start27 April 2007ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey – As reported by the Press of Atlantic City: "Chalk it up to enthusiasm. "City officials say a company building the resort's newest casino in the South Inlet got a little ahead of itself, digging up foundations and underground tanks before it closed off the site with a proper construction fence. "And when Revel Entertainment's builders put up the fence to keep people out of the holes, they effectively closed off three city streets that had not yet been taken off the official city maps. "…On the city administration's insistence, City Council introduced an ordinance on new business Wednesday night to vacate the parts of Congress Place and Massachusetts and Connecticut avenues between the Boardwalk and Oriental Avenue, as well as a small, rutted path called Calloway Place. "…Morgan Stanley acquired the land last year, one of the remnants of the now 40-year-old Pauline's Prairie, for $74.5 million. It hired Revel late last year to develop a project that may include 2,000 hotel rooms, 7,000 parking spaces, convention facilities and a host of entertainment beyond gambling. A 2011 grand opening is planned…" copyrighted material written for and appeared exclusively in The Press of Atlantic City |
