Ashley Revell to place ceremonial roulette bet in Las Vegas

28 October 2019

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Known around the world for his historic and life-changing roulette bet in 2004, Ashley Revell will return to the Plaza Hotel and Casino to place a ceremonial bet on the Plaza’s new and downtown Las Vegas’ only single 0 roulette table on Saturday, 2 November at 6 p.m. The Plaza will also debut its “Red 7” single 0 roulette promotion that will run through 7 November.

Revell made international headlines when at 32 years old he bet his entire life savings playing roulette at the Plaza. Hailing from England, Revell sold all his possessions to place a $135,300 bet on red, which had a less than fifty-fifty chance of winning. The roulette ball landed on Red 7, and Revell won $270,600. The bet and dramatic win was broadcast by Sky One, a British television show and seen by millions around the world in the years since on the internet. His monumental bet even inspired a reality show, called Red or Black, created by Simon Cowell.

To commemorate Revell’s historic bet, on 2 November the Plaza will launch its “Red 7” promotion enabling guests who are playing on the new single 0 roulette table to win a $25 promotional chip when the roulette ball lands on Red 7 (complete rules available online). The Plaza’s single 0 roulette table is located in the casino’s recently refreshed, local sports themed party pit, where photography is encouraged so guests can share their fun on social media, #PlazaScore.

“Ashley is an exciting part of the Plaza’s history,” said Jonathan Jossel, CEO of the Plaza Hotel & Casino. “The world is still fascinated by his unbelievable roulette bet and win fifteen years ago at the Plaza. It is our honor to have him return and bet on our single 0 roulette table, the newest edition to our photo-friendly party pit. The Plaza continues to enhance our casino floor with more games, better odds and ultimately more excitement for our players – it’s always a good gamble at the Plaza.”

“I have said that the roulette spin at the Plaza was the most amazing moment of my life,” said Revell. “Single 0 roulette wasn’t around back then. Clearly a lot has changed in gaming and at the Plaza. So, I am excited to return, and hopefully, we can all celebrate another successful roulette spin.”
