Ascot racehorse kill threat man sentenced

4 January 2010

ENGLAND -- A heavily indebted gambler who threatened to kill a racehorse to avoid his debts has received a suspended jail sentence, the BBC reported.

Andrew Rodgerson issued the threats by text and email to the horse's owner in Ireland prior to the high profile Ascot race, according to the BBC.

Rodgerson was then arrested at the racecourse, amid tightened security. He admitted threatening to damage property, the BBC reported.

Conduit, the threatened horse, went on to win the race, the BBC noted.
