Arkansas Legislature Flooded with Anti-Gambling Callers

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas – As reported by the Associated Press: "No measure that would allow casino gambling in Arkansas is under consideration by the Legislature in its current special session - or even expected to be submitted - but that isn't keeping callers from flooding telephone lines with messages against gambling.

"Buddy Johnson, chief of staff of the House of Representatives, said the House switchboard has been tied up off and on since Monday with anti-gambling calls.

"…State Sen. Jim Hill, D-Nashville, president pro-tem of the Senate, said a lobbyist had apparently been hired by gambling interests in Tunica, Miss., to direct calls to legislators from people opposed to gambling…"
