Arkansas Group Spends $300,000 Against Gambling

ARKANSAS – As reported by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette: "A group encouraging antigambling calls to state lawmakers spent almost $300,000 last month to fight an expansion in gambling that so far hasn't emerged in the form of legislation.

"Arkansans for the 21 st Century spent the money on advertising and a telephone campaign in December as the Legislature gathered for a special session on education.

"…Arkansans for the 21 st Century has previously been financed by consultants who do business with Mississippi casinos, but it's not clear who's financing the current effort. Legislators still say they believe it's the out-of-state gambling interests, however…"
