Arizona Tribal Group Names New Director

13 January 2004

ARIZONA – As reported by the Arizona Republic: "Arizona Indian Gaming Association tribal leaders have called on someone who helped them pass an Indian gambling expansion measure in 2002 to lead the association's interests into the future.

"Sheila Morago, a Gila River Indian Community member, emerged from a national pool of roughly 40 applicants to replace David LaSarte as the group's executive director.

"Morago moves into the slot Feb. 1 from her post as vice president of national relations for an Indian-owned marketing, advertising and public-relations firm, Initial Impressions of Tempe.

"…Morago said she wants to strengthen Arizona's roughly $1 billion-a-year Indian gambling industry and maintain good relations with lawmakers, tribes and communities…"
