Arizona gets $24.6 million from gaming

ARIZONA – As reported by the Tuscon Citizen: "Arizona's Indian tribes with casinos gave $24.6 million of gaming revenue to the Arizona Department of Gaming for the January-March quarter, a 9.5 percent increase from the same period last year, the state reported Tuesday.

"Year-over-year revenue sharing has increased in each of the 16 quarters that the state's 15 gaming tribes have shared revenue with the state since spring 2003.

"The tribes have given the state $276 million in the first four years of revenue sharing, which was put in place when voters approved Proposition 202.

"…School districts will get $12.4 million from the most recent quarter's revenue, with the remainder split among problem-gambling programs, emergency services and wildlife and tourism funds, as prescribed by the voter-approved Arizona Tribal-State Gaming Compact…"
