Arizona casino unveils new $130 million expansion14 November 2011TUCSON, Arizona -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- A nearly two-year, $130 million dollar construction project, Casino Del Sol Resort, Spa and Conference Center officially opened its doors on 11-11-11 to guests joining them for a sold-out weekend of celebration. Located in southwest metropolitan Tucson, the 215-room, 161,000-square-foot resort features more than 65,000-square-feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and convention space and will be the premier entertainment destination in southern Arizona. "This project is about more than just opening up a beautiful resort in the Sonoran desert," said Wendell Long, CEO of Casino Del Sol Resort. "We are creating hundreds of jobs and boosting the local economy, something that the Pascua Yaqui tribe is very proud of." Casino Del Sol Resort Features: Entrance and front desk featuring a Tuscan-inspired design with Italian marble vaulted ceilings, rich mahogany woods, and a 10-foot crystal chandelier Public spaces reflect a rustic Mediterranean feel, with patterned terrazzo flooring, ornamental iron work and aged woods 215 luxurious rooms and suites complete with Four-Diamond upgrades An expansive pool area that includes a "beach pool" where chaises can be placed, private VIP cabanas, fire pits, and fountain and light shows synchronized to music The only two Starbucks locations in any Arizona casino Hiapsi Spa & Fitness Center that features exclusive treatments created by Pascua Yaqui tribal doctors P.Y. Steakhouse which seats 100 and features a 1,000 bottle wine room and Sommelier Signature drink menu created specifically for the resort and a private reserve of tequila and bourbon Anselmo Valencia Tori Amphitheater (AVA), a 5,000-seat open-air concert venue that has hosted such national acts as Rhianna, Kid Rock and Tim McGraw Close proximity to Tucson International Airport The design and construction team, comprised of international architecture and engineering firm LEO A DALY, contractor McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. and owner's representative Innovation Project Development (IPD), partnered with the casino's executive management team and Pascua Yaqui Tribal Council members to create an amenity-rich, Four-Diamond property that creates a destination center for tourists, corporate meetings and conventions, and Tucson-area residents. The resort incorporated sustainability principles throughout its design and construction, earning it inclusion in the Arizona Hotel & Lodging Association's Certified Green Lodging Program. Tribal leaders are also participating in a Sustainability Education Empowerment Development (SEED) Initiative that will implement standards to conserve natural resources, reduce waste and decrease pollution. |
