Arizona casino move finds support

ARIZONA -- As reported by the Arizona Republic: "A once controversial plan by the Gila River Indian Community to relocate and enlarge its Lone Butte Casino south of Chandler is bringing compliments from city officials and an open house to neighbors.

"Members of the Gila River Indian Community Casino Owners Expansion Team will take their plans for a $60 million casino at Kyrene and Pecos roads to a Chandler open house Thursday.They will break ground at the site Monday and expect to open in late 2008, Gila River spokeswoman Alia Maisonet said.

"...The 120,000-square-foot gambling facility with five restaurants and 2,500 parking spaces will displace the Rock Solid concrete plant, which is moving more than a mile south along Interstate 10, said owner Craig Tanner..."
