Argosy Considers $150 Million Expansion

OHIO – As reported by the Cincinnati Enquirer: "Argosy Gaming Co. could spend more than $150 million on a new, much larger riverboat casino and more parking as part of a Lawrenceburg expansion designed to shore up its position as Greater Cincinnati's highest-grossing casino.

"Argosy chief executive officer Richard J. Glasier on Wednesday offered some details of the Alton, Ill.-based casino company's vision for Lawrenceburg.

"He said the expansion won't start until later this year.

"…Lawrenceburg Mayor Bill Cunningham said Argosy's preliminary drawings show a one-story boat that is nearly twice the size of the existing riverboat.

"…Cunningham said the expansion is important for Argosy and the city of Lawrenceburg, especially following nearby Belterra's $35 million resort-style expansion near Vevay and political chatter among some state lawmakers who want to legalize gambling in Kentucky and Ohio…"
