Archbishop Criticizes UK Casino Plan

UNITED KINGDOM – As reported by the ic Coventry: "The Archbishop of Canterbury has warned that debt threatens the survival of the stable family, and attacks the Government for its plans to open super-casinos.

"…[Dr Rowan Williams] attacks planned Government changes to the gambling legislation, highlighting concerns about the prospect of mega-casinos, regulation of children's access to gambling, and the impact on areas where gambling is a major draw.

"'The problems surrounding debt are unlikely to be eased by the Government's current plans for new laws on the gambling 'industry' - a bizarre use of language if ever I saw one,' he says…"
