Anti-gambling group to air ads in N.H.

MANCHESTER, New Hampshire -- As reported by the New Hampshire Union Leader: "An anti-gambling coalition plans to begin airing radio ads warning against legalizing slot machines.

"Philip McLaughlin and former U.S. Sen. Warren Rudman are featured on the one-minute ad that warns gambling will destroy families and the state's quality of life. The Granite State Coalition Against Expanded Gambling is paying for the ads.

"The group is also working on its opposition to slot machines through its Web site, NoSlots.com.

"According to an ad script provided by NoSlots, Rudman says: 'Gambling destroys families, increases crime, bankruptcy, domestic violence and suicide.'

"Yesterday, current Attorney General Kelly Ayotte and McLaughlin spoke at a NoSlots news conference calling for defeat of a proposal to bring slots to the Rockingham Park horse racing track in Salem. They were joined by leaders of churches, charitable groups, the restaurant industry, police chiefs and legislators..."
