Anti-Casino Group Undecided on Racino Campaign

PORTLAND, Maine – As reported by the (York County, Maine) Journal Tribune: "Casinos No! has not decided whether to campaign against the so-called racino proposed for Saco.

"Spokesman Dennis Bailey said his group met on Monday to discuss its reaction to Scarborough Downs' proposal to move to Saco with up to 1,500 slot machines.

" …`We're not sure if the racino law would even allow them to move the track,' Bailey said. `There are so many questions over who is banking this, where will it go.'

"…How Casinos No! becomes involved will depend on whether the council sends a referendum to voters. Bailey said Casinos No! will poll its members to decide whether or not to be fully involved on Wednesday.

"The anti-casino group, which defeated a proposed Indian-run resort casino in the Nov. 4 election, is strapped for cash, Bailey said…"
