Anti-Casino Group: Ho-Chunk Project in Jeopardy

LYNWOOD, Indiana – As reported by the Northwest Indiana News: "A group opposing a casino in Lynwood said Tuesday it believes news of Ho Chunk Nation government infighting could halt the project.

"At a news conference, Citizens for Our Community members said a newsletter published by the executive branch of the Ho Chunk Nation expressed doubt about the project's feasibility.

"Stewart Miller, spokesman for the Ho Chunk's executive branch, said that while there has been some miscommunication between the 18-member executive branch and the 11-member legislative branch, plans for the casino are still moving forward.

"…The legislature spent $10 million to purchase the 105-acre Southland Sports and Expo Center. The proposed casino complex would include a 432-acre multipurpose family entertainment center, which would include a land-based casino, auditorium, family water park and recreation center, as well as a museum and Native American cultural center…"
