Anti-Casino Group Collect Signatures

BUFFALO, New York – As reported by the Buffalo News: "Opponents of a Buffalo casino are planning to take their case to the top federal official who, they say, must approve a transfer of land to the Seneca Nation of Indians.

"Members of an anti-casino group spent the weekend collecting signatures on a poster-sized letter that criticizes the Senecas' Buffalo casino as a social and economic mistake.

"Citizens Against Casino Gambling in Erie County will submit the letter and signatures to Interior Secretary Gail A. Norton, who still must weigh in on a new Seneca casino, said Joel Rose, co-chairman of the anti-casino group.

"…The group is pressing its campaign even though a compact between the state and the Senecas says the nation has the right to build a third casino in Buffalo…"
