Ameristar Vicksburg Honored at 23rd Annual Mississippi Business and Technology Expo24 January 2006VICKSBURG, Mississippi -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Ameristar Casino Hotel Vicksburg was honored today by the Mississippi Business Journal at the Kick-off Breakfast for the 23rd Annual Mississippi Business and Technology Expo. Ameristar was the only casino selected as a finalist for the MBJ's Best Places To Work In Mississippi honor. The event, sponsored by the Mississippi Business Journal, the Mississippi Development Authority, Trustmark National Bank and Supertalk Mississippi, recognizes both public and private sector businesses that have created an outstanding working environment and culture for their employees. Entries were divided into four categories: small, medium, large and mega-large companies; Ameristar was a finalist in the mega-large category, consisting of companies with 500 or more employees. We strive to offer our team members rewarding careers," said Ameristar General Manager Ray Neilsen. "We are pleased to be one of the finalists for the Best Places To Work In Mississippi honor." Based on its size, Ameristar was required to have 30% participation or a minimum of 300 employees to complete a multiple-choice on-line survey as part of the award entry. Ameristar exceeded that with a participation rate of 45%. Employees were asked about a variety of attributes related to the company's culture and values, communication and cooperation, common purpose, department/team, job responsibilities, learning and development, and performance and recognition. "At Ameristar, our Team Members are offered careers, not just jobs. We want our team members to have long-term and goals and aspirations," said Annie Jenkins, Ameristar Director of Human Resources. "We are committed to providing a positive working environment for all our employees."
