Ameristar Stays on Top

MISSOURI – As reported by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch: "Ameristar Casinos Inc. won $24.7 million from gamblers at its St. Charles boat in April, extending its hold on the top spot in the market.

"Ameristar's revenue was up 19.3 percent from the same month last year.

"Harrah's Entertainment Inc.'s casino in Maryland Heights also posted a double-digit increase in winnings. Its adjusted gross receipts, or total bets minus total payouts, were $21.5 million, up 11.4 percent from a year earlier.

"…The Casino Queen in East St. Louis ranked third among area riverboats with $14.4 million in winnings. That figure represented a 6.5 percent improvement from the same period last year.

"The Alton Belle had $8.62 million in winnings, off 9.8 percent.

"…The President Casino on the Admiral posted a slight increase in winnings in April. It had adjusted gross receipts of $6.21 million, up 1.5 percent.

"…The five casinos in the St. Louis market won $75.4 million from gamblers in April, up 9 prercent from a year earlier.

"The 11 casinos across Missouri won $120.5 million, up 12 percent. All but two of the riverboats posted year-over-year increases…"
