Ameristar Council Bluffs plans makeover

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa -- As reported by the Commercial Property News: "A major upgrade is in the cards for Ameristar Council Bluffs, a hotel and casino property in Council Bluffs, Iowa, about 130 miles west of Des Moines and four miles east of Omaha, Neb. Owner Ameristar Casinos Inc. plans to expand the property through an approximately $100 million upgrade.

"Designed to reflect the style of historic riverboats, Council Bluffs first opened its doors along the Missouri River in early 1996. Ameristar has reinvested $80 million in the property since its debut. Currently, Council Bluffs features a 160-room hotel with 5,000 square feet of meeting space, as well as four restaurants, four bars and a fitness center. With the planned addition of 60,000 square feet to the casino, the property's gaming space will double in size. The expansion plan (pictured) also calls for the construction of a 1,000-space garage to complement the existing 1,000-space parking facility, and two new bars and a deli..."
