Ameristar Casinos Considers Biloxi Casino

BILOXI, Mississippi – As reported by the Biloxi Sun Herald: "Ameristar Casinos is looking to put a casino in Biloxi and considering a site on Point Cadet that would make the city the landlord for its gambling barge. But the deal hinges on piecing together several other parcels of private property.

"If the Nevada-based gambling company locates there, it would be the second to pay rent to the city of Biloxi. The city already leases land to the Isle of Capri.

"Ameristar is interested in Biloxi because of the state's low tax rate for casinos, stable regulatory environment and the Coast's building boom, including a series of new condominium developments.

"A spokeswoman for Ameristar said the company is considering more than one option…"
