Americans will wager $6 billion on Super Bowl LIII28 January 2019(PRESS RELEASE) -- Nearly 1-in-10 American adults plan to bet on Super Bowl LIII between the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams, according to a new survey released today by the American Gaming Association. Key findings from the survey, conducted by Morning Consult, include:
"These results, however, also point to the continued viability of the dangerous, illegal sports betting market in America. It is more important than ever for jurisdictions to enact sound policies that provide a safe, legal alternative with protections for the nearly 23 million Americans who will place a bet on the big game." This survey was conducted on behalf of the American Gaming Association by Morning Consult on 22 January 2019 among a national sample of 2,201 Adults. The interviews were conducted online and the data were weighted to approximate a target sample of Adults based on age, race/ethnicity, gender, educational attainment and region. The margin of error is +/- 2% and greater among subgroups. Bettors include those who expect to place a bet online, with a bookie, with a casino sportsbook, in a pool or squares contest, or casually with a friend.
