Americans Scammed by Australian Lottery Scheme

AUSTRALIA -- As reported by the Australian: "The promise of a win from an Australian lottery is being used to scam Americans out of their money.

"In one incident, a 90-year-old man from Fort Wayne, Indiana, sent cheques totalling $US 69,200 to an organisation that told him he had won $US 3.2 million in an Australian lottery last October,.

"…The man was told he had to make the payments in order to receive the win, his daughter told police.

"The father sent cheques of $US3200, $US50,000 and $US16,000.

"Happily for the man, he didn't lose all his money, with payment on the $US16,000 cheque stopped and the $US3200 cheque not being processed…"
