America Tab Wants to Take Foreign Wagers

OREGON – As reported by the Thoroughbred Times: "Account wagering company AmericaTab has filed a request with the Oregon Racing Commission to begin taking wagers on foreign races, but two American horsemen's groups and Magna Entertainment Corp. have objected, saying that the AmericaTab plan provides to compensation for foreign tracks or horsemen.

"'It's just principle,' Remi Bellocq, executive director of the national Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association, told Daily Racing Form. 'There needs to be some kind of fair reward for horsemen and racetracks, no matter if the tracks are here or over there.'

"…AmericaTab is a collection of account wagering companies that includes BrisBet and Winticket.com and is owned and operated primarily by Charlie Ruma, who owns Beulah Park near Columbus, Ohio…"
