28 September 2005
MIAMI, Florida – (PRESS RELEASE) -- American Gaming Association President and
CEO Frank J. Fahrenkopf Jr. will deliver the luncheon keynote address at the
first Florida Gaming Summit, set for Oct. 17-18 at the Hyatt Regency Miami.
Several hundred gaming and tourism executives, regulators and lawmakers
will gather here for an intensive conference program that examines Indian
gaming, gaming and tourism, local impacts, politics, and the state's various
forms of gaming.
Fahrenkopf has been the gaming industry's national voice since becoming
its first chief executive in 1995. He has long been a prominent figure in
national politics, currently serving as co-chairman of the Commission on
Presidential Debates. At the Florida Gaming Summit, he will address the state
of the gaming industry, taxation, and the impact of state legislation.
"Florida is becoming one of the most intriguing -- and potentially
fastest-growing -- gaming jurisdictions in the country," Fahrenkopf says. "The
Florida Gaming Summit will examine the opportunities and challenges of gaming
in this state, as well gaming's relationship to Florida's overall tourism
industry. I look forward to contributing to this discussion."
The conference kicks off with an evening reception Oct. 17, featuring a
keynote address by Florida State Sen. Steven A. Geller. State Rep. Ron L.
Greenstein, Seminole Gaming CEO Jim Allen, Hallandale Mayor Joy Cooper,
Attorney Alan Koslow, and Deutsche Bank Managing Director Marc Falcone are
among the prominent speakers who will address attendees throughout the day
Oct. 18. The roster of expert speakers further includes executives from the
Florida greyhound, harness, jai-alai, and thoroughbred industries.
