All bets on as New South Wales opens floodgates29 October 2007NEW SOUTH WALES, Australia -- As reported by the Sydney Morning Herald: "The global gaming giant Betfair could be operating in NSW within months and the State Government plans to open the door for other online betting agencies to operate here. "The Gaming and Racing Minister, Graham West, confirmed that organisations like Centrebet and Sportsbet could be allowed to trade - and therefore advertise - in NSW. "'We have got to do a proper review of that issue … a lot of big NSW bookmakers have moved their operations to the Northern Territory,' he told the Herald. "...Mr West said NSW gamblers were still betting using the Northern Territory-based websites, and by allowing the bookmakers to set up in NSW, the Government would be able to obtain tax revenue from the gambling.
