Alcohol Allowed at Oregon Tribal Casino

OREGON – As reported by the Oregonian: "Visitors to the Umatilla Indian Reservation near Pendleton will be able to drink as well as gamble at Wildhorse Resort and Casino starting in early 2006.

"In a landmark decision for the dry reservation, the board of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation approved casino liquor sales Monday in a 6-0 vote, said Debra Croswell, tribal spokeswoman.

"The board acted because the 11-year-old casino, a major source of revenue for the tribe, has had increased competition since May from hundreds of Oregon Lottery video poker slot machines in bars and taverns in northeastern Oregon. And more may come with the possibility that the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs could build a casino in the Columbia Gorge…"
