Alberta tribes battle for casino

ALBERTA – As reported by the Edmonton Journal: "…Two neighbouring First Nations are competing to build a casino — and a jackpot awaits the winner.

"The band that ultimately builds the project will gain hundreds of jobs and could earn $10 million annually in casino cash to fight persistent torments like substance abuse and youth gangs.

"…The Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission will allow only one casino in the area, and has urged the bands to build the project together and share in its benefits. They refused…"
